Actually, they keep using these two words just like this all the time. In one and the same Liedertext they use "at a lesson" and "hinein class" and my students are quite confused about it.

It is not idiomatic "to give" a class. A class, rein this sense, is a collective noun for all the pupils/ the described group of pupils. "Our class went to the zoo."
I'm going to my Spanish lesson / I'm going to my Spanish class...? For example, I would always say "Let's meet after more info your classes" and never "after your lessons" but I'durchmesser eines kreises also say "I'm taking English lessons" and never "I'm taking English classes".
